Hello, I'm Destiny!
Life is but a dream, and I’m just trying to make it my everyday reality. I’ve lived most of my life in my imagination creating the “what if’s”, never really having time to focus on whether it would happen or not. I stayed reliving scenes in my head, acting them out in my bathroom and reciting movie lines as if it were sweet lullabies; to me that’s exactly what it was, and still is. God has truly blessed me with many things, aside from my big heart, he has instilled talents that I cherish, nurture, and don’t take for granted. I live to tell honest stories. I live to honor my younger self and spread love and awareness, all while doing what has always brought me peace. I am proud to say that I am an Artist! I loved acting before I started studying it. Pursuing my BFA with an emphasis in Acting and Directing at Sam Houston State University, I realized just how much I loved and appreciated the craft for everything it is. I became fascinated and invested in every aspect it takes to create these memorable stories.
I have won the VASTA Award (Region 6 KCACTF 2018) along with Best Actress in a Ten Minute Play (2018, 2019 and 2020). In February 2020, as a junior, I became the first Black woman from Sam Houston State University to win the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship out of 167 nominees. I then advanced to Nationals at the prestigious Kennedy Center in Seattle, Washington, where I received a $2,500 scholarship.
When I’m not acting onstage, you can find me knitting, painting, writing, reading, and cooking up a meal that can for sure soothe a soul or two! While you’re here take some time out and click the news tab or links to my social media to see what I have been up to and all of my latest news and posts!
